Defender of the Crown The Legend Returns PC, consoles, and Deck — one SKU, five storefronts
13 August 2026 on Steam, GOG, Switch, PS5, and Xbox Series, with a PlayStation trailer in the middle of the page.
Defender of the Crown: The Legend Returns launched on 13 August 2026 as a single-player package at 19.99 dollars or 19.99 euros. Publisher copy and the Games Press release name the same doors: Steam, GOG, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. There is one game with three modes inside. There is not a separate “Kingdom SKU.” Buy it once, then pick Retro, Classic, or Kingdom on the title screen with the mode advisor if you are still arguing over a shared television.
The PlayStation trailer below is Sony’s 2026 reveal film for the PS5 listing. It is the same legend in a different bumper. Watch it for tone, then come back for the store facts the trailer will not keep updated.
PC: Steam and GOG
Steam is app 4208140. It carries forty-seven achievements, Steam Cloud, full controller support, and the news posts this wiki recaps under Updates. An introductory cut to 16.99 dollars (15 percent off 19.99) runs through 27 August 2026. After that window, expect the list price unless a later sale appears on the store — this wiki will not invent one.
GOG is the DRM-free PC door Nordcurrent listed alongside Steam. Cloud and achievements live on Steam’s account; do not assume a GOG save walks onto a Steam Deck. Specs are modest: 64-bit Windows 10 or 11, an i5-3330 or FX-4300 class CPU, 8 GB of RAM, a GTX 650 or HD 7790, and 1 GB of disk. The system requirements page reprints minimums and recommended cards. Steam’s store payload lists Windows only. There is no Mac or Linux native build in that payload. GamingOnLinux covered the announcement; coverage is not a port.
PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch
PS5 is a current-gen listing. The concept page Nordcurrent pointed at before launch still resolves as PlayStation concept 10018689. Xbox’s store ID is 9N4W35GX7MP6. That Xbox page calls the game Optimized for Xbox Series X|S, lists Xbox achievements, Xbox cloud saves, a Teen rating for violence, and nine supported languages. Nintendo Switch is in the launch press release and the Steam FAQ’s console set. eShop URLs move; search the full subtitle The Legend Returns rather than an old 1980s port.
All three consoles are the same 19.99 list in the 13 August Games Press note. Cross-saves between Steam and a console are not promised. Play the platform you bought. Controls cover pads; Retro was rebuilt so a controller would work rather than sitting on an emulator overlay.
Steam Deck
Official FAQ language is careful: the game supports Steam Deck at launch, but Nordcurrent cannot guarantee an official Verified badge because Steam owns that process. Supported is not Verified. Launch reviews talked about battery in hours, not about a handheld that magically became a 1986 CRT. If a minigame feels floaty, change the device in controls before you change the lord. Cloud saves on Steam are the reason a Deck session can continue on a desktop — still single-player, still no online campaign.
Languages in the game versus languages on this wiki
Steam lists English, French, Italian, German, Spanish — Spain, Polish, Portuguese — Brazil, Russian, Simplified Chinese, and Ukrainian. This wiki ships English, French, German, and Spanish because those are the locales the site is built in. Italian, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Chinese, and Ukrainian players still get the game; they do not get a sixth wiki tree. Legal pages stay English-only. Store buttons live on Links.
If you are still in the shop, the review is the launch verdict and Getting Started is the first hour. Platforms are doors. The crown is behind the one you actually paid for.
